Movement Programs & Sessions
Once you or your child have completed a profiling session with us and received your feedback. We may recommend a movement program or that you take part in one of our movement sessions depending on your unique needs.
Our movement sessions take place in groups aimed at children. During these sessions, we introduce the children to specific movements that promote learning and allow them to experience their peak performance. These movements are based in the field of educational kinesiology and are scientifically proven to improve brain connectivity and performance. These movement sessions can be done by us or we can host them at schools.
We will also provide parents with a movement program that they can take home. These programs give you movements that you and your child can do anywhere. Allowing you to reinforce what was learned in the movement session. Building a habit that will help you and your child reach your full potential.
While our movement sessions are geared towards children, educational kinesiology has shown that movement has a number of benefits for persons of all ages. Therefore, it is never too late to learn these movements that can help you to achieve your goals.
The Power Of Movement
There is an intrinsic connection between our mind and body, this is the basis of educational kinesiology which studies the movement of the body and how it can impact the brain. The study of this relationship has revealed that the right movement can have a number of benefits for the brain. These benefits include the following:
01
Grow The Brain
The brain is a system of neurons that form connections called neuropathways. The highest concentration of these connections is found in the areas of the brain associated with movement. However, the influence of movement on the brain doesn’t stop there. It has been shown to grow the brain by forming more neuropathways throughout the brain. Helping the brain to develop and improving brain function.
02
Activates Learning Centres Of The Brain
Movement can also help to activate the area of the brain responsible for learning. This can shift children from the “fight or flight” mode used in traditional schooling where they sit still for extended periods, to whole-brain learning. This improves their ability to learn and retain new knowledge allowing them to reach their full potential.
03
Activates Survival Reflexes
There are certain primitive reflexes that have been shown to get in the way of learning. These reflexes are often associated with learning difficulties such as ADHD and more. Certain movements are able to activate some of these survival reflexes causing the brain to pack them away, allowing children to learn better. Additionally, through practice, the brain learns to automatically pack away these reflexes making learning easier without the need for movement.
