Mindful Moves Offerings, FAQ

What sets Mindful Moves apart?

Mindful Moves provides a variety of services that can be delivered individually for clients facing specific challenges or, preferably, as a customized package to address more complex issues. Each of our services is developmentally aligned, recognizing the client as the expert of their own experience. By collaborating with our clients rather than working on them, we respect their unique journey and inquire about the support they require to achieve their fullest potential.

Can I find a Mindful Moves practitioner in my area?

Unfortunately, not. She utilizes these diverse tools to provide optimal support for her clients. With years of experience in the classroom and applying these methods in her personal life, she is equipped to offer effective solutions that have benefited her, her family, and her students.

How does Mindful Moves offer clients ‘another way’?

In our society, we frequently encounter the notion that a single solution applies universally. We tend to attribute problems to specific dysfunctions, overlooking the intricate interplay of life choices within a dynamic system—our bodies, which adapt to survive when thriving is not an option. Mindful Moves presents an alternative perspective on the body, focusing on the underlying causes of the issues we face. Often, these challenges stem from obstacles that hinder our natural development. Simply put, this is stress—whether emotional, physical, or mental. Mindful Moves provides a fresh lens through which to view your challenges, offering holistic solutions tailored to address the unique barriers that impede learning, functioning, and meaningful connections with others.

Does Mindful Moves provide diagnosis for clients and favour medication?

No, this is not our goal or purpose. Any advice regarding diagnosis, medications, and similar matters should be sought from your medical doctor. If you are considering discontinuing medications, it is essential to consult with your practitioner to determine if this is a viable option. We can work with clients who are on medication.

How does Mindful Moves address conditions like ADHD, Autism, dyslexia, anxiety, ODD, OCD, depression, and similar conditions?

While some clients may arrive with a diagnosis they wish to discuss, this is not a requirement. At Mindful Moves, we prioritize the exploration of how retained primitive reflexes, beliefs, stress, and brain patterns influence your life and contribute to behaviors that may or may not align with symptom clusters. Our goal is to facilitate movement and train both the body and mind to effectively manage life’s stresses and meet personal and external expectations.

What if I am concerned about sleep issues or bedwetting?

Sleep and bedwetting might appear to be straightforward issues, but they can stem from multiple underlying factors. Our Profile Session package, which examines retained primitive reflexes and brain patterns through neurofeedback brain mapping, will provide us with a comprehensive understanding of the situation. Additionally, addressing fear and anxiety can be a crucial aspect in some cases.

Mindful Moves has so much to offer. Where do I start?

We believe our website empowers you, as the captain of your journey, to choose your starting point. However, if you prefer, feel free to reach out to us by clicking on our action buttons, which will enable you to send a direct message via WhatsApp. This way, we can discuss your specific requirements and determine the best options for you.

When would I book a Profile Session?

We often suggest a Profile Session for our clients. This session serves as an excellent opportunity to evaluate your current situation. It focuses on you as an individual, examining how you handle stress and providing you with immediate strategies and ongoing support. Rather than just a report of your current status, it offers actionable solutions to help you unlock your full potential.

Our Profile Sessions include:

  • Profile for learning difficulties and behaviour concerns
  • Profiles for self-discovery, study strategies, and relaxation methods
  • Profiles for relationships
  • Profiles for teams

When would I consider Neurofeedback?

Brain Mapping offers an excellent method for gaining insights into brain activity, specifically regarding energy consumption and its distribution. When combined with our profile session that examines bodily disturbances, it can reveal significant insights into your overall challenges. Identifying areas of suboptimal brain function enables us to develop customized programs aimed at training the brain to establish new neural pathways and operate more efficiently.

People who use neurofeedback to improve their functioning include:

  • Children experiencing challenges in the classroom and in life
  • People who are neurodiverse
  • Professionals looking to enhance their skills
  • Elite athletes

When would I consider movement plans?

Mindful Moves offers movement therapies that enhance brain function for clearer thinking and promote the integration of primitive reflexes. These activities support brain development, and those needing more help can benefit from pairing them with brain training sessions.

Home-based movement programmes work on unintegrated primitive reflexes. When these are still present, they indicate an immature nervous system, leading to functional brain imbalances and slower brain wave activity (Follow Dr Robert Melillo’s work to find out more). To increase accessibility, we provide home-based movement plans and support via WhatsApp, reducing costs for parents and allowing for effective pursuit of both movement and brain training.

Edu K moves can be easily implemented at home and in classrooms to help children achieve a receptive learning state. Specific movements will be shared during the Profile Session feedback, and we aim to train teachers in these techniques for consistent classroom application, reinforcing progress made in our sessions.

When do I book a Stress Relief session?

Numerous individuals find themselves so burdened by stress and anxiety that they struggle to recall the sensation of calmness and clarity. For many, a valuable first step is to rediscover their inner peace. Clients often notice an immediate reduction in their stress levels during and after these sessions. For some, this marks the beginning of a journey where calmness leads to enhanced clarity and purpose.

When do I book a Goal Setting session?

Neurofeedback targets the brain, while physical movement addresses stress in the body. In contrast, goal-setting sessions known as Balances focus on the mind. They delve into your core identity, along with the values and beliefs that guide your actions. Both the body and mind react to your belief system and mental programming. Many individuals seek assistance in reshaping outdated programming and managing their habits and triggers, but most methods involve a cognitive approach to engage the subconscious. Balances stand out as they combine movement and visualization, which resonate with the subconscious mind, allowing for profound changes in the body’s and brain’s responses.

Balances can be used to challenge limiting beliefs in the following areas

  • School and exams
  • Work and financial goals
  • Relationships and social goals
  • Sports and recreational activities
  • Personal development
  • Spiritual aspirations
  • Team building and work ethic

Your mind holds immense power; by altering your perspective and the value you assign to the world; you transform every facet of your decision-making process moving forward.
